Luxury fashion label Kat van Duinen has enlisted the media relations skills of Lauren Shantall Integrated Communications to work across the Kat van Duinen brand. Since mid-August 2017, Lauren Shantall Integrated Communications has arranged the media launch of the new Kat van Duinen flagship store at the V&A Waterfront’s Silo District, as well as the relaunch of its revamped ‘Essentials’ boutique at The Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, Cape Town.
Polish designer Kat van Duinen founded her proudly South African label in Cape Town in 2010 with an aim to provide high quality fashion to consumers seeking a combination of premium materials, unrivalled craftsmanship and personalised service. Her designs include signature, ethically produced, exotic leather pieces; ready-to-wear garments that incorporate a minimalistic aesthetic and subtle African influences; and a variety of elegant accessories.
The Old Biscuit Mill is the site of what was Kat van Duinen’s very first boutique, which opened in 2011. In October 2017, the store was relaunched following a complete revamp to its interior by rising young architect, Ivan McCarthy Peens.
The renovation occurred a month after the label’s flagship store, also designed by Peens, opened at the Silo District, where it joins other exciting new establishments, such as the Zeitz MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art Africa), The Silo Hotel, The Yard and the Radisson Red Hotel.
Kat van Duinen’s flagship Silo store will showcase high-end luxury products, such as a new spring collection of Venetian-inspired evening wear. The Woodstock-based boutique, on the other hand, will feature the label’s ‘Essentials’ collection, a bevy of ready-to-wear luxury necessities and classic Kat van Duinen pieces.
Both boutiques open from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm. The flagship store opens on Saturdays between 9am and 3.30pm, while the ‘Essentials’ boutique opens between 9am and 3pm.
Lauren Shantall Integrated Communications is happy to announce its second collaboration with Mulberry & Prince Kitchen and Bar. After initially managing the launch of the eatery back in April 2016, the communications agency has been re-appointed to introduce the restaurant’s new brunch menu to the public.
Mulberry & Prince is located at 12 Pepper Street in Cape Town’s CBD, just off Bree Street, and is owned by chefs Cynthia Rivera and Cornel Mostert. Both studied at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, hence their restaurant’s focus on New-American cuisine, which encompasses a variety of small- to medium-sized dishes that a table of guests can enjoy communally.
Since opening, Mulberry & Prince has been the go-to destination for a Modern American fine dining experience. To date, the restaurant has been open for dinner only.
But as of September, the eatery will be open every Sunday, from 10h00 to 14h00, offering a “lazy Sunday” brunch menu filled with classic American-style dishes. These include “soul food” favourites such as buttermilk pancakes, buttermilk biscuits in sausage gravy, and chicken and waffles served with Texas-style hot sauce on the side.

The Silo District’s new destination store, The Yard, has appointed Lauren Shantall Integrated Communications to launch this vibrant establishment. The team at Lauren Shantall (Pty) Ltd will manage traditional PR and media relations.
The Yard is named after the dockyards surrounding its location, and is a bistro, bar, deli and concept store all in one package. It is the brainchild of restaurateur GP Singh, and retailer and hospitality maven Abigail Bisogno.
The Yard features a retail area where urban-friendly homeware and accessories are on display; a delicatessen filled with pastas, cured meats, preserves, cheeses and desserts; and a food-on-the-go section that also offers smoothies and hot beverages, including coffee from Rosetta Roastery.
There’s also a luxurious main bar, adjacent to which is a salad bar and warm buffet area, whose selection changes from day to day. Finally, there is a fine dining section open for lunch and dinner, whose menu features a dishes inspired by Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Oriental and Indian cuisine.
